People who advocate for uploading ourselves into computers in order to live indefinitely, admit that the soul is immaterial; or in other words, our bodies are not ourselves. If our bodies were ourselves, then transferring our minds from one physical medium to another would make us different persons.
The very idea of transferring information from one physical medium to another and having it remain the same information, entails that the information itself is not physical; otherwise it would be different information in every instance in which it is physically manifested.
