The fruits of liberal theology

Even the stork in the heavens knows its times;
and the turtledove, swallow, and crane observe the time of their coming;
but my people do not know the ordinance of the LORD.
How can you say, “We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us,”
when, in fact, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie?
The wise shall be put to shame, they shall be dismayed and taken;
since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom is in them?

Jeremiah 8:7-9.

  1. Dear Agellius’s Blog,
    Jeremiah was trying to warn the Jewish leaders about the impending Babylonian siege of Jerusalem. The words of the prophet have nothing to do with liberalism. The words more accurately speak to those hard-headed folks who stubbornly hold to their laws rather than face the harsh realities.

    God bless,

  2. I chose the title because I think the words are applicable to modern liberalism, even if that’s not what Jeremiah had in mind. Liberalism causes people to be ignorant of the “ordinances of the Lord”, and liberal theologians have made the law of the Lord into a lie, by teaching people that they may disregard it.
