[T]he claim that questions susceptible of scientific investigation are the only ones worth investigating is itself not a scientific claim, but a philosophical claim, and thus one that requires a philosophical defense. You cannot escape philosophy. The only question is whether you will do it well or badly. And if you pretend you are not doing it, or pretend that it is not worth doing, or refuse to familiarize yourself with its history and methods, you are going to do it badly.
